The New Metaphysics

What can we actually
know about reality?

Before every belief, theory, and explanation, one fact remains: experience exists. What becomes possible when we begin there?

01 — THE STARTING POINT

One certainty remains

Experience
exists.

Perhaps reality exists exactly as it appears to us. Perhaps matter is fundamental. Perhaps the brain produces consciousness.

Any of these may be true. Yet each is already an interpretation. Whatever reality ultimately is, it is present to us as experience.

01A — FROM THOUGHT TO EXPERIENCE

A deeper starting point

Before thought can be known,
experience is already happening.

From thought

Cogito, ergo sum.

I think, therefore I am.René Descartes
To experience

Experior, ergo sum.

I experience, therefore I am.Miroslav Mühlböck The New Metaphysics

Thought is something we experience. Experience does not need to become thought in order to be present.

A different kind of inquiry

“We do not ask you to believe.
We ask what remains when
belief is set aside.

THE METHOD / 02

Begin with what we cannot deny.

  1. 01 What is directly given?
  2. 02 What is inferred?
  3. 03 What remains unknown?
  4. 04 What are we not yet entitled to claim?

The questions beneath the answers

Enter through
what moves you.

No prior knowledge is required. Each question is a different path toward the same mystery.

An open philosophy

Not a doctrine.
Not a religion.
A living inquiry.

The New Metaphysics is being built in public. Arguments may fail. Evidence may resist the model. Concepts may have to be abandoned. Truth matters more than the theory.

01

Reason without reduction

Science is indispensable. But no interpretation should be mistaken for the whole of reality it seeks to explain.

02

Mystery without mystification

We take the unknown seriously. Not knowing is an invitation to inquire—not permission to invent.

03

Hope without false certainty

Open questions may leave room for hope. They do not give us the right to call hope proof.

A treatise on the nature of existence

A philosophical work in progress—from the certainty of experience to the limits of matter, mind, self, time, meaning, and the boundary beyond which intellectual honesty requires us to say: we do not know.
